GCSE Mathematics is a two year course examined at the end of year 11. There is no coursework component; however, functional skills are embedded in the content. A large proportion of the assessment will be functional Mathematics (i.e. the use of Maths in solving day to day problems.) Therefore thinking skills are essential.
To ensure students are entered for the appropriate tier of paper (Higher or Foundation) they will be internally examined in the Summer and Winter of Year 10 and in Year 11.
Homework will be regularly given, using both ICT and written pieces. Students will be required to own and use a scientific calculator.
