STEM Club offers an alternative extra-curricular club for the Year 8 pupils to take part in. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, so if you have an interest in any of these subjects this club would be ideal for you to progress and develop outside of the usual classroom lessons.
The group meets every Wednesday after school in GG3 and take part in a variety of exciting, fun and enriching STEM activities.
The year starts with a trip to the National Science Museum in London to really enthuse all new members and act as an ice breaker for the pupils to spend time together and get to know each other.
We then begin an eight week space theme which includes an afternoon in the Explorer Dome, our very own rocket launch and a trip to Mars via mission control at the National Space Centre in Leicester.
The remaining themes and projects change from year to year depending on the groups interests. These have included a project on lasers and then a trip to Laser Quest to conclude and present our projects and this year we are taking part in a ‘Healthy Body’ project which will lead to ten members being taken to the ‘Me Festival’ at Himley Hall.
